All systems go! (and other related steaming pant-loads of awesomeness)
Well, the lovely petal building has been squashed by budget and energy goals. We are left with a simple box, like what I started with back in April. Aesthetically I’m sad, but at the same time, it’s a good move in respect to reaching our project goals.
Today was COOOOOOOL! I was running out of one meeting to head into the WebEx conference call with Shafraaz, Christy and Dennis. I was at the University and sat down at a bus stop to see what the plan was. Shafraaz asked if I got his invite, I did on my phone so instead of pulling out my computer and tethering my phone for internet, I looked for a WebEx app.
Drawing on the excitement from the design discussion yesterday, I decided to just take a look into orchids, three-petal flowers and the Fibonacci sequence, etc. This is what I would do if I were on the design team— I couldn’t help myself— on my own time, of course.
Dennis invited me to this meeting, saying that he and Christy would value my presence. I took this to mean that they still valued my direct, honest opinions and comments—yay! The meeting participants were just Shafraaz, Christy, Dennis and myself.…
Putting “The Petal” to the metal
A moment of uncomfortable honesty makes a big difference to the project direction.
Our design team has been busy, so Dennis recently asked me to lend a helping hand with a bit of programming and space planning. I did this professionally for over 5 years, so it’s been a while - but man, it comes back quickly!
Ready to start!
